Process Safety Management

Process Safety Management
and Risk Management

Webb, Murray & Associates prides itself on providing process safety management and risk management engineers that come from the chemical processing and refining industries, with design, maintenance, operating, and process safety backgrounds. Because our process safety management associates have actually worked in covered processes and facilities, they understand PSM/RMP implementation requirements and how plants operate. Therefore, Webb, Murray is in an excellent position to provide knowledgeable personnel to assist in development and implementation of process safety management activities within your facility, group, or company.

Process Safety Compliance Audits

Because of our associates' experience in operating environments, Webb, Murray can perform/facilitate efficient, comprehensive, in-depth audits of your PSM/RMP covered facilities. Webb, Murray auditors will examine the programs that currently exist at a facility, evaluate their implementation, and determine the level of compliance through interviews with a cross-section of facility staff, reviews of records and documentation, and field observation of work practices and plant equipment.

Our auditors can provide an audit protocol, which is based upon the OSHA PSM compliance directive CPL 2-2.45A (CH-1, dated 9/13/94) and EPA's Guidance for Auditing Risk Management Plans/Programs (EPA 550-B99-008). While our protocol follows the format of the guidance documents, our technical staff has expanded it to reflect their industrial knowledge and experience. This includes knowledge of various industry consensus codes, standards, and recommended practices issued by organizations such as ASME, API, NFPA, and the CCPS.

The typical audit report provided by Webb, Murray will document the program strengths and weaknesses, and provide auditor recommendations as necessary for achieving compliance and/or improving programs. Webb, Murray auditors can supply objectivity, benchmarking capabilities, and the dedicated time necessary for completing the audit and issuing the report in a timely manner.
